Course Description

This course provides students with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills in context to the principles of psychiatric and mental health care. It also emphasizes the therapeutic knowledge needed to provide quality care for patients with both cognitive and maladaptive behaviors in a clinical setting.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate the capacity to develop and implement treatment modalities that meet the needs of psychiatric patients.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to administer medications in a safe, legal, and ethical manner.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to develop and administer adjuvant therapies
  4. Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement healthcare plans for psychiatric patients prior to discharge
  5. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with other healthcare members in the team to deliver quality care to the patient
  6. Demonstrate the ability to identify variables that induce psychiatric episodes in mental patients and implement health plans that address patients' medical needs.
  7. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with members of the medical team to deliver quality care to mental patients.
